Wordpress 2.6

Wordpress 2.6 is out, as of a few weeks ago. I've briefly checked the relevant tables and fields against Wordpress 2.5 and there is no significant difference. This means the current version, 1.04, will convert Wordpress 2.6 blogs.

Wordpress to Drupal - Source Code - coming soon

I mentioned last week that the source code for the Wordpress to Drupal converter will be uploaded within the next day or two. Okay, I'm a bit out with my time-frame but I will be uploading soon, please be patient.

The converter is written using Realbasic. You will need access to the Professional version as that is required simply because MySql is involved.

To cut a long story short I've now got access to Realbasic and can compile the source code (there was an issue last year which prevented that from happening - and is why I took to C++).

So in the next few days I'm running my eye over the source code, re-familiarising myself with it before uploading it. I'm sure there will be lots of questions as to why things were done in a certain way so I'd like to be a little bit prepared.

Also I'll probably upload a later version (.exe file) which I never got around to fully compiling.

Welcome

Welcome to Prime 357. You may be wondering what is 'Prime 357' and so am I. At the moment it's just a name and I'm sure you'll work out the significance of the numbers. "Where's one and two?" I here you ask. Those numbers just didn't cut it, they didn't have the same ring. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to register this name along with the dot com, net & info.

Currently I'm self-studying C++ and I also have an interest in other IT related areas in which I want to improve my skill set. To help cement my learning I thought it would be a good idea if I was able to upload, publish, show the world what I was achieving at any given point in time. I don't want this site to be about me, it's my way of trying to give something back. Hopefully students new to programming may find some answers to problems and if they do, that's great. It will be even better if they question or alternatively offer alternative solutions.

So here's my idea. Initially, I simply want to upload snippets of code (C++) with explanatory notes or comments. These snippets of code or how to's will ultimately form a book and will be easily navigated. It will not matter the order in which I upload or publish articles (snippets etc) as they will be inserted into logical chapters. Obviously, in the early days there will be gaps or topics not covered but I'm hoping this is where the community may chip in.

I don't want to restrict this site to only C++. I'm also dabbling in PHP and Drupal (Content Management System) and therefore will be addressing these areas as well.

I've included a Forum but haven't gone overboard with numerous categories. We'll start with an Introductions forum along with C++, Drupal & PHP. As time goes on these can easily be extended ie. Ruby on Rails etc.

And lastly, I'd like to introduce a 'Projects' type module or section. As you've probably gathered, this site is built around the Drupal Content Management System. A particular project I have in mind is improving the Forum module of Drupal but before that can be happen I'll have to get up to speed with PHP and Drupal.

A project which I'll upload in the next day or two will be a Wordpress to Drupal converter. I've already uploaded the manual. Not only the .exe file but also the source code file written in RealBasic.

Well, there you have it, my reasons for creating this site.
